[There's a slight edge of nervousness as he says it.
Not because he's being honest, but-]
I'm, uh! I'm kind of blind at the moment. My sight's gone. So I might need a hand getting back to my water-home. Sea dwelling? Ocean apartment? I don't actually know what they call it down here.
Y-yeah. But — I'm pretty sure it's temporary! It happened once with Kovacs, back on the ship.
I was waiting it out a little, seeing what else it might impact...
[There's a pause; it sounds like he's trying to keep track of his location, or maybe make sure nobody's swimming up on him. As it turns out, it's nerve-wracking and he's terrible at it.]
I lost my hearing for a short time once, too. Pretty sure it extends to the five senses, at random intervals.
Could it be that the orbs' powers are strong enough to affect you even as you are far away. Or perhaps you went somewhere that's close to the orb we're looking for here? And it reacted to your presence? Strangest things have happened.
[ He's only throwing theories at the wall to see if any stick, but Peter knows for a fact that Finn can sense the orbs because he was in contact once. Perhaps something similar happens to Newt now that he's made a spooky contract. ]
Oh! like an apothecary? There can't be that many shops with those kinds of windows, I'll ask around. You know I move pretty fast, so don't fret, I'll get to you. That is a promise!...but try not to move much, Newt, just in case. You could get hurt. Do your eyes hurt? or the sight is simply gone? And do any of your other senses feel stronger? Maybe you can scent people.
[He's onto you...!!! But he sounds more defeated by the situation than anything.]
I'm not gonna move! Totally not moving. If someone else moves me, not much I can do about that, but I'm totally gonna plant my fish ass down and wait like a good boy. [He [proceeds to plop down against a - wall? He's pretty sure it's a building wall. Someone trips over his foot and says 'watch it!', which Newt ignores.]
No enhanced senses, F-Y-I. That's too good to be true anyway.
And here I was thinking you would appreciate it if I called you...a good boy.
[ He purposely dropped his tone an octave and said that last part in a husky voice to distract Newton. Being blind and lost is scary as hell. He doesn't want Newt to go into a panic. Peter himself is swimming around as fast as possible as they talk, checking the different streets, almost running people over by accident, and asking anybody who listens about stores with big windows. ]
Okay, worry not, I'm getting closer. And ey, give it time. Maybe those will show up later., or maybe you need to be angry like Hulk.
[ Who even trips over someone while underwater???? That person was clearly stupid. It takes Peter a few more minutes even with how fast he moves and the descriptions of Newt's current unique looks, but finally a lady he talks with mentions that she's seen Newt swim by not long ago. ]
Newt, I know where you are! There was an octopus lady that could help me, I think most of her tentacles were pointing in this direction...oh! I see you in the distance.
[ And the Next time Newt hears Peter's voice, it very clearly comes from outside his mind, since the Guardian is close enough to be heard. ]
[Newt perks up where he's been sitting, and swims up from where he'd been sitting and waiting and waiting and — well, he hadn't been waiting that long, but when you're blind and have ADHD, it's an eternity. Unseeing eyes don't particularly focus on anything around him in particular as he struggles to locate where Pete's voice is coming from.]
Pete!? I'm right here, dude!
[Spoilers, he's about to be slammed into by a little sales cart piloted by a blubbery seal man.]
[ When you are blind, everything is terrifying and time stops having meaning, Peter can't fault Newt for being skittish. ]
Ey!..oh, shit, Newt, wait!
[ He sees that cart near his friend, and how the Seal man doesn't seem to realize they're a disaster in the making, and Peter is already wincing. He speeds up, or rather, tries to swim faster in their direction, but miscalculates just how fast his new body can go now.
The good thing is that he reaches Newt before the cart can run him over.
The not-so-good thing is that inertia is a cruel mistress, even underwater, and the one whose body slams into Newt is Peter himself, chest first.
[ At least Newt has stopped moving. Peter's stupidly large fins are harder to control, and after crashing against Newt, he ends up hitting yet another thing - the wall of a nearby building- until his body comes to a halt.
(@﹏@) what the ever-loving fuck did just happen!?
Peter's is seeing the world upside down, so he has to right himself with more than a little effort and half swims, half crawls towards his friend. ]
Augh, shit...Are you okay? [ Peter is going to gently poke him on the side. ] Newt? Say something, please.
[ There are some confused murmurs from the other people present, but someone eventually helps Peter right himself. He says thanks and sorry almost simultaneously and then swims to Newt's side at a slower pace than before. ]
Still!! Sorry, I was swimming really fast and there was a cart about to hit you. Never mind that now...I'm going to touch your arm, okay? It's me.
[ And he does just that, pulling Newt closer to give him a better look and check his eyes. ]
Uh, it's kinda hard to tell if you have a concussion, to be honest.
Nah, it's cool! I mean, I'm not dead, so it's cool. Cool cool cool-
[Is it really cool? Because he sounds frustrated and halfway toward a freak-out. He freezes, letting Peter move him around like a prop. Yet again, his eyes don't particularly focus on anywhere, especially not on Peter's face as he looks back. But at least his eyes seem uninjured; no film of blindness, or anything macabre.]
[ Frankly, at this point, it's an automatic reaction when it comes to Newt. Peter doesn't mind, they're friends, so he worries. The joke about his chest startles Peter and helps him relax. ]
That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my tits. [ He pats Newt's cheek a couple of times, gently and playful. ] Why don't you wrap your arms around my neck and I'll swim us back to the place where I'm staying? Fewer people there to see us act like weirdos, and we can wait for this to pass together.
[ He REALLY hopes the blindness will go away. If not, Peter's finding a doctor to check Newt's eyesight. ]
Voice
Ey Newt. I appreciate that you are actually telling me as promised. [ Good on you for learning that lesson then! ]
What is it? Is it bad? Do you need help?

Voice
[ Peter, in contrast, it's being honest. He's been lied to in the past a lot, so he likes it when people tell him the truth.
Alas, the truth in this case sucks.]
Holy shit, what. Blind!? All of a sudden? Fucking orb. Can you tell me where you are? I'll come pick you up.

Re: Voice
So...very much in line with the shit the orbs pulls.
Were you too far from the place where you are staying? Or maybe close to the palace, or the market....?
[ It's a big kingdom, so if New can't give him at least some clue, it might take Peter a bit t find him. ]
Ouch, man that would drive me crazy as well. At least know you know what was the prize for changing your regret.
Voice
[He gulps, pawing along a wall.]
Well, I was somewhere near this shop with, uh. A big colorful stained glass window?
I forgot what it's called, but it's got the equivalent of a hippy chick in it selling weird herbs.
