[ Well, in Peter's defense, they both had years of experiences at pushing those feelings down and just focusing on being each other's best friends. Jim was always happy enough with that, would have always been happy enough with that if they'd never gotten together, but once they did... well, suffice to say they had a lot of years to catch up on, and it meant things moved a whole lot faster than either of them could have anticipated.

But it's nice to look back and realize there are absolutely no regrets. Anything might happen and yet he will never regret the path they both walked together. ]

We, ah— yes, we did rings. Well, he got me a ring, and then I got him a ring to match. [ He shows Peter his left hand, so he can admire the dark band around his ring finger. ] Bones is old-fashioned, he likes these things. And so do I, honestly.

[ He also won't say no for a belated bachelor party. A post-bachelor party? Bones can be there and everything, it'd be fun. ]

Not really. I think by the late 21st century they ran out of ideas to pull out of their asses for those movies, but there are a lot of great ones. Who's your favorite Bond?

[ Dating your best friend has many advantages, and it's nice that Jim and Leonard got to know each other so well before they took the next step.

Peter too would agree that it's better to take advantage of their time together before it's too late because life has a tendency to screw everyone over and ruin happiness. You don't want to have unfinished business. ]

[ Not just getting married for the sake of it, of course, but everything that is implied. To have someone in your life to love and cherish, to share your life with, to start a family with. So much for that dream, now. Before Peter can ruin the moment by getting emotional about what could never be, he straightens and takes a long sip of his drink. ]

Ha, that's too bad. My grandfather always said that Sean Connery's Bond was the best, but I can barely remember his movies. I like Roger Moore myself. And you?

[ Jim offers Peter a small, understanding smile. Not as happy for himself now as he is saddened by his friend's loss. He knows how important Gamora is to him, and how much he must still be suffering her departure.

He rests his hand over Peter's, not giving him any more words of condolence but offering a gesture of comfort that lingers, one that doesn't need to come with words. It also allows them to keep talking about their movie options, shifting the conversation to something lighter that will hopefully distract Peter from some things. ]

Both great options. I must admit, I'm partial to Daniel Craig myself. Very rough and tumble, not quite so smooth around the edges. And God, he was a hunk.

[ Oh no, Jim, don't feel bad. Peter's problems shouldn't affect his friend's happiness. He would be sad to know that's the case. He is really happy that McCoy and Jim are living their lives to the fullest together. The hand on his knee makes him look down, then smile, and lean into Jim's side a little. So, when should I expect kids? I want to be an uncle. [ He says that with the utmost casualness he can muster, and tries really hard to suppress a grin, before they focus on James Bond again. He really is lucky to have a friend like Jim, to be honest with and talk about pretty much anything. ]

Never heard of him before, but now we have to watch whatever movies he is in. Let me judge for myself if he really measures up to that hunk status.

[ Jim just rolls his eyes at that question, chuckling. ]

Not anytime soon. Besides, Bones already has a kid.

[ Either way, it's not the kind of thing he's ever considered, and they definitely don't have the kind of life for that. Maybe one day in the future they'd settle down somewhere, but he doesn't see that happening anytime soon. ]

Oh, you'll see. He's really something. Bit different from the other Bonds though, so fair warning. What about, ah... Casino Royale? I like that one. Plus, it has Eva Green and Mads Mikkelsen. Even better.

[ Peter grins, playfully nudges Jim, and then stares at him in surprise once again. ]

He does? Wonders never cease today. Is there anything else I missed and I should know? Do you have a devil twin? Is the Enterprise round-shaped? Does Spock like hula hooping?

[ At this point, he might believe everything. Except for perhaps the hula hoop thing. And no, right now, Jim is right that they don't have the right life for raising kids right now. Who can tell what the future might bring? ]

Different is good, I like variety. Casino Royale it is then. I don't know Eva Green or Mads Mikkelsen, I'm not very up-to-date with actors unless they're from the 80s. But I trust your judgment. [ Peter clinks their wine glasses together and takes a sip. He's absolutely going to love Eva Green, because who wouldn't? ]
